Rosie Perez

KimRosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress choreographer, dancer and activist. Her breakthrough was with Tina's character in Do the Right Thing (1989), followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) brought her an nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress along with other honors. Perez's main roles in movies include It Could Happen to You (1994) as well as The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007), and Birds of Prey (2018). In addition, she received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990, 1994 and), and another Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her role as The Flight Attendant. She has also appeared in stage plays on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. During the 18th season, she was a co-host on ABC's talk show The View. She attended Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. Her mother was in the poverty of Woodside Houses by 1999. Her death was due to AIDS-related complications in 1999.
