Debbie Gibson became a popular artist in the 1980s. She continued to pursue her passion and make music even when newer artists dominated the industry. Gibson was born on August 31st, 1970 in Long Island, New York City. Gibson is a Virgo, with an Italian/Sicilian German, and a little bit Russian ethnicity. She was the daughter of Diane Gibson and Joseph Gibson. She also has three younger sisters. When she was a child, she studied the piano in the class of Morton Estrin. Her career began with an original composition titled "I Come from America", which she sent the WOR WOR in 1983, as an entry for its song contest. The song was a winner, after which her mother transformed the garage of their home into a recording studio. The demo for another one of her original songs Only in My Dreams submitted to a radio station prompted the D.J. An executive of Atlantic Records shared the song she co-wrote with her. This led to her securing a recording deal almost immediately. After that, she started to perform at venues throughout and around the United States. Between 1986 and 1987, she devoted the bulk of the time building her repertoire of songs touring the venues. The Gibson's mother was a frequent attendee at the shows of her club. The actress also attended classes through Calhoun High School, Merrick New York. From there she was given with an honorary diploma.
