Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13th, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Her discography covers diverse genres. Swift's songwriting, often inspired from her own life, has was praised by critics. Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania. She moved to Nashville in Tennessee at the age of 14 to become a singer-songwriter. Swift signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, in 2004, and a recording contract at Big Machine Records, in 2005. Swift was the first female country artist to make a U.S. platinum-certified debut album with her self-titled album. Swift's second album, Fearless (2008) was about country pop. Speak Now (2010) was her third album. The songs "Love Story" and "You Belong to Me" from the former were the first to be top of the U.S. all-genre and pop charts. Red (2012) included her first Billboard Hot 100 song number one, "We Are Never Ever Going Back Together". She shunned her country image and dropped 1989 (2014), an album of synth-pop that featured the chart-topping songs "Shake It off", "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood". Media scrutiny inspired the urban-flavored Reputation (2017) and its number-one single "Look What You Made Me Do". Swift quit Big Machine in 2018, and signed with Republic Records. In 2019, Swift released Lover (2019), followed closely by Miss Americana (2020), a documentary about her life. She ventured into indie folk and alternative rock with her albums for 2020, Folklore and Evermore which featured two singles "Cardigan" and "Willow" were atop the Hot 100. Swift began to re-record her six first albums to resolve an issue with their masters. Swift released two albums in 2021 - Fearless (Taylor’s Edition) and Red. The latter's "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" was the longest song to top the Hot 100. All-time streaming records were broken by Swift's 2022 album Midnights and her single "Anti-Hero". Swift has also directed music videos, movies, and has even appeared as a supporting character in other movies. Swift is one if the most popular music artists ever. Swift is the most streamed artist on Spotify and has five albums that have more than one-million copies sold in the United States. 12 Grammy Awards including three Album of the Year nominations; an Emmy Award, 40 American Music Awards and 29 Billboard Music Awards. 92 Guinness World Records are just a few of her many awards. Swift has been featured in such lists as Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Songwriters of All time; Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists; Forbes Celebrity 100; and Billboard’s 100 Greatest of All Time Artists. Swift was awarded the Artist of the Decade title as well as the Woman of the Decade title. Her music is widely acknowledged as having inspired a generation of singer-songwriters.
